Empowering Youth for Climate Action

Learn how Sprout Women Empowerment Trust is empowering marginalized groups, including women, girls, and people with disabilities, to actively engage in the climate change discourse and drive inclusive solutions.
Africa is our home, and we must protect it. Climate change knows no borders, and it’s up to us to safeguard our continent for future generations.
Climate change is not just an abstract concept; it’s the defining issue of our time, and we’re at a critical juncture. The impacts of climate change are far-reaching, affecting everything from food production to sea levels, and the urgency for action has never been clearer. Without immediate and decisive measures, the challenges we face today will only worsen, making adaptation in the future even more challenging and costly.
Recently, Sprout Women Empowerment Trust had the privilege of participating in a youth training on climate change action in Harare, held from the 26th to the 27th of October 2022. Organized by the Zimbabwe Youth Council in collaboration with partners such as ZYSDG and CAN Zimbabwe, this meeting provided a crucial platform for young leaders to come together, share knowledge, and strategize solutions to combat climate change.
At Sprout Women Empowerment Trust, we recognize that climate change affects everyone, but it disproportionately impacts women, girls, and people with disabilities. That’s why one of our core mandates is to ensure that these marginalized groups are not left behind in the climate change discourse. Through initiatives like the youth training on climate change action, we’re committed to deepening our understanding of climate change, advocating for inclusive solutions, and creating spaces for meaningful discussions and actions.
By empowering youth with the knowledge and tools to address climate change, we’re laying the groundwork for a more sustainable and resilient future. From advocating for policy change to implementing climate-smart solutions in our communities, young leaders have a crucial role to play in shaping a more sustainable world for generations to come.
As we reflect on our participation in the youth training on climate change action, we’re inspired by the passion, creativity, and determination of the next generation of climate leaders. Together, let’s continue to amplify our voices, take bold actions, and work towards a future where our planet thrives, and all its inhabitants prosper
